Karol Taylor is the founder and owner of Taylor Your Career, a federal job search and educational advising service. With more than 28 years of federal service, including 21 years of combined career advising, academic advising, and tutoring, Karol brings a broad perspective and considerable expertise to the career decision-making, career management, federal job search, and college admissions process.

Karol helps clients to identify their career competencies and skills, and provides job search tips and techniques for the federal and private sector. As a certified Job Transition Coach, Karol provides career assessment feedback, career guidance, and interview coaching. Karol has served as a Federal Career/ Outplacement Counselor for the Department of Education, the Department of the Treasury, Census Bureau, and FAA. She taught career-related workshops for the USA Graduate School; and the Baltimore County, Prince George’s County, and Anne Arundel County Workforce Development offices. She taught career courses for Prince George’s Community College, Catonsville Community College, and the University of Phoenix.

Karol was the 2005-2006 President of the Maryland Career Development Association (MCDA), where she successfully planned and implemented the annual conference and numerous workshops, changed the look of the MCDA web site, stabilized the budget, and attracted a culturally diverse leadership. Since 2008, Karol has served on the Awards Committee for the National Career Development Association (NCDA). Other positions of leadership in career organizations include: 2007-Program Chair for the Association of Career Professionals, International – DC; 2008-NCDA Nominating Committee; 2007-2011—Executive Secretary National Employment Counseling Association; 2002-2003—At Large Board Member, Middle Atlantic Career Counseling Association (MACCA).

Karol completed her MA in Counseling Psychology 1996 with a concentration in Adlerian Theory at Bowie State University. During her tenure at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Karol was selected as a Fellow for the prestigious DHHS Women’s Management Training Initiative. Karol received the 2001 and 2003 highly coveted DHHS Secretarial Awards for outstanding service. Additionally she received the 2001 Training Officer’s Conference Award for Technological Innovation; MCDA’s 2007 Service Award and 2011President’s Award; and MACCA’s 2003 Ambassador’s Award.

Karol is the coauthor of two federal job search books, Guide to America’s Federal Jobs, and Find Your Federal Job Fit, both published by JIST, Inc. Karol’s expertise makes her uniquely qualified to instruct others on how to help individuals to identify career objectives, and to target jobs that “fit” their unique talents, skills, and abilities.
